Agar still water me boat ki speed X km/hr and Stream ki speed Y km/hr hai,to
Stream ki disa (Downstream) me boat ki speed = (X + Y) km/hr.
Stream ki opposite (Upstream)me boat ki speed = (X - Y) km/hr.
Ex:-1. A man can row with a speed of 6 km/h in still water. What will be his speed with the stream, if the speed of stream is 2 km/h.
Soln. Given that,
Still water me man ki speed (x) = 6 km/h.
Stream ki speed (y) = 2 km/h.
Dhara ki disha (downstream) me man ki speed hogi = (x+y) km/h.
= ( 6 + 2 ) = 8 km /h.
Ex:-2. If the speed of a boat in still water is 8 km/h and the rate of stream is 3 km/h, then find the upstream speed of the boat.
Soln. Given that,
Still water me boat ki speed (x) = 8 km/h and dhara (stream) ki speed (y) = 3 km/h.
Dhara ki opposite (upstream) me boat ki speed = (x-y) km/h.
= ( 8 - 3 ) = 5 km/h.
Still water me boat ki speed = (X +Y) / 2 km/hr.
Dhara (Stream ) ki speed = (X - Y)/2 km/hr.
Ex:-3. A boat can row upstream at 20 km/h and downstream 28 km/h. Find the boat's rate on still water and the rate of the current.
Soln.Given that,
Dhara ki disha (downstream) me boat ki speed (x) = 28 km/h. and dhara ki biprit (upstream) me boat ki speed (y) = 20 km/h.
Still water me boat ki speed = (X +Y) / 2 km/h.
= ( 28 + 20) /2
= 48/2 = 24 km/h.
Dhara (Stream ) ki speed = (X - Y)/2 km/hr.
= ( 28 - 20 )/2 km/h
= 8/2 km/h.
= 4 km/h.
Dono place ki Distance(D) hogI = t(X^2 -Y^2)/2X ; X > Y.
Ex:-4. A boat can row 4 km/h in still water. when the river is running at 2 km/h, it takes him 4 hours to row to a place and to come back. How far is the place.
Soln. Given that,
Still water me boat ki speed (x) = 4 km/h.
Dhara ( stream) ki speed (y) = 2 km/h and Time (T) = 4 hours.
Distance = t(X^2 -Y^2)/2X. X > Y.
= 4(4^2 - 2^2)/2*4
= 4(16 - 4)/8
= 4*12/8
= 6 km
Still water me boat ki Speed = P ( T + t ) / ( t - T ) km/hr. hogi.
Ex:-5. A streamer goes downstream and covers the distance between two ports in 4 hours, while it covers the same distance upstream in 5 hours. If the speed of the stream is 2 km/h, the speed of the streamer in still water is..
Soln. Given T = 4, t = 5 and P = 2.
So, Speed of thebstreamer in still water
= P( T + t ) / ( t - T ) km/hr
= 2 ( 4 + 5) / ( 5 - 4 ) km/h
= 2*9 km/h
= 18 km/h.
