FRACTION: If any unit be divided into any number of equal parts, one or more of these parts is called a fraction of unit. The fractions one-third, two-third are written as 1/5, 2/5 respectively. i.e. a/b is known as fraction in which a is called numerator and b is called denominator.
Fraction = Numerator / Denominator
KINDS OF FRACTION:
There are mainly three type of fraction given as
Proper Fraction, Improper Fraction and Mixed Fraction.
Proper Fraction: If the numerator part of a fraction is less than denominator then the fraction is called proper fraction. Example:- 1/2, 3/4, 5/7 etc. are proper fraction.
Improper Fraction: If the numerator of a fraction is greater than denominator, then the fraction is called improper fraction. Example:- 4/3, 6/5, 9/7 etc are improper fractions.
Mixed Fraction: We know that an improper fraction is made up of a whole number and proper number. when an improper fraction is changed to consist of a whole number and a proper fraction it is called a nixed fraction.

NOTE:-
- A fraction is also called a rational number.
- A fraction is unity when its numerator and denominator are equal.
- A fraction is equal to zero when its numerator alone is zero.The denominator of a fraction is always assumed to be non-zero.
- Proper fraction is always less than 1.
- Improper fraction is always greater than 1.
